Starting a Private Link List

These private sources of traffic can be used to target and filter your traffic, through your sites, and right into your affiliate program’s sites.
What is a private link list?
It’s simply a site you will setup to list all your sites on, to keep the traffic flowing through them, until the site visitor finds something they are really interested in.
Let’s say you are working on one niche in particular, and you are working it pretty hard, so you have a few sites that all match that niche. Let’s say for instance you are going after the natural health niche. You probably have a variety of different types of natural health sites. These could be free health ebooks, homeopathy, reflexology, herbs, aromatherapy, back pain, anxiety, depression, and on and on and on. These are what are referred as “Micro niches” by some people. They are a niche, within a niche.
Now you have all these sites up, and they are getting some traffic, but you would like to keep some of that traffic flowing through your sites. Let’s say you get a site visitor to your “aromatherapy” natural health site, but that person doesn’t ONLY want to know about how aromatherapy can help them – they want to know ALL the natural ways to help, say, migraines.
This is where your private link list/traffic pump will come into play.
You build this private site, just like any other link list or directory site, but you keep it Natural Health ONLY link list, and break it down into sub-categories that fit within the niche, like the micro niches I mentioned above. Then you fill those categories with your existing sites, even your affiliate program sites and product links, and put a recip link on all your sites pointing to your new Link List.
This will help get the traffic flowing to the link list, as well as build up the Link Popularity for that link list, which should also help raise the link pop of the sites listed on it. This is also a great way to keep the SE spiders flowing through your sites. By having all these sites interlinked through the Link List, you are sure to see some good SE spider activity.
Traffic and spiders are not the only thing these private lists are good for. You can also use those micro niche categories to place advertising on the pages that match the micro niche. Hopefully this way you will get a few sales before that site visitor leaves your ‘hub’ of sites.
Once you have the list up, all your sites listed within it, and recips on all those sites, you can also use this site to get listed at other link lists, directories, and the SE’s.
I have several private link lists for my favorite niche, and they are working quite well. Not only did they help the spider activity and link popularity of all the sites listed, but alot of the category pages in my private link lists got picked up pretty good in the engines for that micro niche term. This is definately a good thing, as all the sites listed on those pages, match the search terms that the surfers are looking for, and it increases the chance of a sale.
Overall I’d say this is one of the best ways to trade traffic that is showing a high interest in your niche, and you don’t have to worry about big link list rules, losing your listing, or not getting listed by making a mistake. You make your own rules, and can bend or break them as you wish “for testing” and you won’t have any of the worries you would have when trading with other people you don’t know.
Another option here is if you know someone else who is working your niche, you can open your private list up to them, as long as you trust this person will be fair. If you both have private lists, you can trade traffic amonst each other, and you could double the results with more that one list.
